At Living Farms, Food Sovereignty is a cornerstone of our work with Adivasi communities. It represents the rights of people to healthy, culturally appropriate food produced through ecologically sound and sustainable methods and their rights to define their own food systems.

Under this theme, we promote i) Agro-ecological practices that respect nature and local knowledge, ii) mixed farming, intercropping and crop diversification to build climate resilience and secure year-round food availability, iii) Reviving indigenous seed varieties and establishing community seed banks is central to preserving biodiversity and farmer autonomy.

We also work to recognize the value of uncultivated foods and promote forest conservation as a critical source of food, nutrition and culture. Through our initiatives, we promote dietary diversity, not just to fight malnutrition but to strengthen traditional food systems rooted in harmony with nature.

Food Sovereignty for us means reclaiming control over food, farming and health led by communities, for communities.
